Self Portrait, 2014

Still looking to find a distinct trademark in my photography, I mean other than always being my own subject. I want this image to almost have a cinematic tone of color, which makes you think I may even move.

Chuck Close

My favorite artist - Chuck Close (b. 1940, Monroe, WA) is renowned for his highly inventive techniques of painting the human face, and is best known for his large-scale, photo-based portrait paintings. In 1988, Close was paralyzed following a rare spinal artery collapse; he continues to paint using a brush-holding device strapped to his wrist and forearm. His practice extends beyond painting to encompass printmaking, photography, and, most recently, tapestries based on Polaroids.

I was luck enough to see some of Close's polaroid and painting work before and after his accident. Amazing pieces at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and Polaroids at the Norton in Palm Beach Florida.

Shopping With Chanel

The designer of Chanel Karl Lagerfeld this fall collection has once done it again. This Spring he created an art gallery, this Fall Karl created a grocery store with hundreds of products for the Chanel Grocery Shopper. A play on everyday life for the Chanel women! It always amazes me how Chanel keeps its roots but makes each collection so young hip and modern. Great job Karl!
